Overview
The Office of Information Technology and Services provides temporary loaner laptops to William James College students, faculty, and staff when needed. These devices are intended to provide short-term access to computing resources while a user's primary device is unavailable or to support temporary academic or business needs.
Loaner Laptops
Loaner laptops are subject to the following conditions:
- Loaner laptops are for on-campus use only and may not be removed from William James College property unless prior approval is granted by the IT Office.
- All temporary loaner laptops must be returned to the IT Office by the close of business on the same day they are checked out, unless an extended loan period has been approved.
- Requests for a long-term laptop loaner must be submitted to Joan in the Academic Resource Center (ARC) for review and approval. Long-term loaner requests are handled separately from temporary IT loaner requests and may require additional documentation or authorization.
- Borrowers are responsible for the care and security of the laptop while it is in their possession and must take reasonable precautions to prevent loss, theft, or damage.
- Loaner laptops must be returned with all issued accessories, including the power adapter and any peripheral devices provided at checkout.
- Users may not alter the laptop's configuration, install unauthorized software, or attempt to bypass the College's security controls.
- Any loss, theft, or damage must be reported to the IT Office immediately. Borrowers may be held financially responsible for damage or replacement costs resulting from negligence or misuse.
- The IT Office reserves the right to refuse or revoke the use of a loaner laptop if the terms of this agreement are violated or if the device is needed for higher-priority operational or academic purposes.
By accepting a temporary loaner laptop, the borrower acknowledges that they have read, understood, and agree to comply with this agreement and all applicable William James College technology policies.
