How to Clear Saved Passwords

Overview

Clearing saved passwords can help resolve login issues, improve security, and protect personal information. Over time, saved credentials may become outdated if a password has been changed, causing sign-in failures or account lockouts. Removing old passwords allows users to re-enter the correct credentials and create a fresh authentication session.

Steps

Google Chrome:

  1. Open Chrome.
  2. Click the three dots (⋮) in the top-right corner.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Click Password Manager.
  5. Find the website/account you want to remove.
  6. Click the Delete button (trash can icon or three dots next to the entry).
  7. Confirm the removal if prompted.

To remove all saved passwords:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to Privacy and Security > Clear browsing data.
  3. Select Advanced.
  4. Check Passwords and other sign-in data.
  5. Click Clear data.

Safari (macOS)

  1. Open Safari.
  2. Click Safari in the menu bar and select Settings (or Preferences).
  3. Select the Passwords tab.
  4. Sign in with your Mac password or Touch ID if prompted.
  5. Select the website/account you want to remove.
  6. Click Delete Password or Remove.

 

To remove multiple saved passwords:

  1. Open Safari > Settings > Passwords.
  2. Select one or more entries.
  3. Click Delete or Remove.
  4. Confirm the deletion.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Open Edge.
  2. Click the three dots (...) in the top-right corner.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Click Profiles > Passwords.
  5. Find the saved password you want to remove.
  6. Click the three dots next to the entry.
  7. Select Delete.

To remove all saved passwords:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Privacy, Search, and Services.
  3. Under Clear browsing data, click Choose what to clear.
  4. Check Passwords.
  5. Click Clear now.
