Below are a few of the common issues that occur when trying to access SPSS from a Mac.
SPSS opens but doesn’t see or open files when you click on them.
Solution:
- System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> Privacy -> Full Disk Access
- Allow changes with user’s credentials -> click the Plus sign -> type Command-shift-G
- /bin-> scroll to find “Sh” and open (make sure it’s checked after the fact)
Your Mac/SPSS will now see the files and allow them to be opened
SPSS Statistics License Authorization Wizard not accepting the license code
First, make sure that the most up to date version of SPSS in the only version installed onto your laptop. If there are any other versions the code will not be accepted.
If you only have the most up to date version of SPSS and the code still isn't being accepted please try the following:
(1) open Finder app
(2) Go to Applications folder and find IBM SPSS Statistics
(3) Right Click on SPSS and go to Contents -> bin
(3) open "echoid.dat" file using TextEditor app
(4) change the value to 0x004 and save the file
