Confirming Email Notifications

In order to receive emails regarding Canvas notifications, you must first manually confirm their email within Canvas. Follow the steps below to check if your email address is confirmed and to confirm it if needed:

Check Email Confirmation Status

1. Click on "Account" (your profile picture) in the left-hand global Canvas navigation.
2. Select "Settings" from the Account menu.
3. Review the details of your email address.

- If you see a star symbol next to your email address, it is confirmed and you can skip steps 4-5.
- If you see an exclamation point, your email address needs confirmation. Please proceed to steps 4-5.

4. Click on your email address to re-send the confirmation message.
5. Wait a few minutes for the email to arrive, then log in to your email account.

- Open the verification email from Canvas Notifications.

- Click the link that says "Click here to confirm this registration" to complete the confirmation process.

  • After you have verified your email, go to your Account in Canvas, then select Notifications
     
  • Update your notification settings to your personal preference.

  • Each notification is set to a default setting. To change a notification for a contact method, locate the notification and click the icon for the contact method. Please check out our Recommended Canvas Notification Settings

     

  • To receive a notification right away, select the Notify immediately option. These notifications may be delayed by up to one hour in case an instructor makes additional changes, which prevents you from being spammed by multiple notifications in a short amount of time.

     

  • To receive a daily notification, select the Daily summary option 

     

  • To receive a weekly notification, select the Weekly summary option The date and time of your weekly notifications are posted at the bottom of the notifications page.

     

  • If you do not want to receive a notification, select the Notifications off option
